Highfield Rangers 2 – 0 Sileby Town: Rangers Extend Winning Streak to Three
For the first match of 2025, Rangers continued their excellent run of form with a commanding 2-0 victory over Sileby Town, marking their third consecutive win after strong displays against Cottesmore AFC and Leicester Atletico. A combination of attacking sharpness, defensive discipline & a Man of the Match performance from Anyiah King ensured Rangers took all three points and earned a well deserved clean-sheet.
First Half:
Rangers started with purpose, dictating the tempo and putting Sileby under early pressure. The first goal came in style, stemming from a perfectly executed long ball to O’Neall Rawle, who controlled it brilliantly on his chest before threading a precise pass to Evan Mansfield. Mansfield displayed his skill and confidence, taking on his marker and rifling a low shot across the goalkeeper into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.
The second goal followed soon after from a well-crafted set piece. From out wide, Kyron Stabana delivered a pinpoint free kick into the box, where Tyrrell Brady rose highest to power a header past the Sileby keeper. The composed finish doubled Rangers’ advantage and capped an impressive first-half performance.
Rangers’ defense, as solid as it has been in recent weeks, stood firm to ensure Sileby couldn’t muster many clear-cut chances. The home side went into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Second Half:
Sileby came out in the second half looking to claw their way back into the game, but Rangers remained disciplined and well-organized. Man of the Match, Anyiah King, expertly marshalled the Rangers defence & the midfield controlled the flow of the match, cutting out Sileby’s passing lanes and ensuring Rangers dictated the pace.
Defensively, Highfields stayed resolute, keeping Sileby at bay and denying them any real sight of goal. While Rangers created fewer opportunities in the second half, their game management was superb, ensuring their clean sheet remained intact and their lead unthreatened.
